The third instalment in the Absys Records' 12inch series sees a return to prominence for the Dublin-based label with a triumvirate of styles from across the spectrum of drum & bass. First up, Mortem returns to Absys with the stomping, upfront roller 'Heat Of The Night', its growling bassline, trance-esque chord stabs and haunting vocals so characteristic of the Polish producer's unique style.
Switching things up, Ibunshi & Kodama offer up a slice of classic old skool vibes with the atmospheric and terrifying jungle riddim, 'Fragments'. Sounding like a mix between Origin Unknown and The Exorcist, this track is one for the late-night-early-morning crew: pure dancefloor fire.
Following his recent debut on Absys' Missing Fragments LP, relative newcomer Mauoq wraps up this incendiary EP with the stepper's delight that is 'Abracadabra'. Bouncey, melodic and unpredictable, it's a sure fire sub-skanker while its skillfully chopped reggae vocal sample will stick in your brain for days.
