For the 4th and last release of 2011, Audio Assault presents the deep and dark beats of spanish producer: P.E.A.R.L. He is already known for a couple of well received tracks on Christian Wunsch 'Tsunami' label, but is even better known as part of the 'Agony Forces' production duo who has recently unleashed their LYCAON project.
Except nothing but quality techno beats on Audio Assault and P.E.A.R.L. brings exactly that. Quality.

6 months after we first ventured into vinyl territory we're back with a new EP. The follow up to Kastil's ''Dusty Edits'' is a sampler containing 4 tracks by 3 artists we are heavily supporting at the moment. The A1 is again by Basque county based 'Kastil'. She's back is a wonderful sample drenched house track containing soul touching vocals. Definitely one for the dancefloor. On the A2 we have ''Doctor Bills' by fellow Rotterdam native ''Ben La Desh'' this is actually his first release out of many to come. This track has been circulating the soundcloud for a few months and was played by OOFT! in one of his excellent podcasts. On the flip we find two tracks by Taiko Mochi name: ''Tomas Malo''. While the B1 ''Scenesters'' is a great more uptempo disco house track with quite an emotive break it's the B2 slomo track ''Shelter'' that has been stealing the show until now. If you're in to real slow and mesmerizing music this might just be the one for you.
Support by: OOFT!, The Dead Rose Music Company, Miguel Campbell, Craig Smith (6th Borough Project), Andy Ash, James Johnston, Soho808, Sleazy Beats Recordings, Zoo Look, Kirill Tipo, Fulbert, Satore.

Bizet Reactions; their first release ever. A special moment for every new act. And it's vinyl what we're talking about. Savoir Records is taking it's next step in the business of serious and shares with you a bucketload of good and honest electronic music. The fairly slow, but energetic 'All I Want' is characterized by it's groovy bassline and a vocal that spreads the basic need of every human. 'Kings of Indulgement' is a highly surprising track, that sketches the need to move every bitch on the way to the dancefloor.
Savoir Records aims to release music that speaks with an universal tongue, and always original. Collaborations of frequencies that are being vibrated into this universe. Honest, sincere and groovy. Often with a melodramatic approach, with the intention to move not only the human body, but also the cosmic soul.
The remix from Ion Ludwig is ideal for that moment on the dancefloor, where everybody is moving, but they need to move a bit more schwungy. Mjam mjam.. just delicious. Estroe's mix is a tad deeper and modest, that can be played on every moment of the day. From the dutch platform NEW; Radion, Venthom & Vincent are making their debut on Savoir Records. Venthom created a contemporary dubby, twosteppin', headknodding groove. The melancholic soundsketch that Radion has created is intense. Vincent's interpretation is all that for the floor. Cut it, loop it, play it, do it! But enough with the chitchat.. listen to it!

The second release on Hidden Tracks by DJ Hidden continues to stretch boundaries and explore pathways of what might not even really be drum & bass. Drastic, the first track on this release, is as much a statement to that fact as it is an entire DJ set condensed to just a little over 6 minutes. It takes you from classic ambient sounds to modern high-tech dubstep to intensely energetic drum & bass, and just when think it couldn't really get any more diverse it effortlessly goes into 200 BPM crossbreed overdrive. Dying Star on the flip actually manages to find and touch ground that Drastic left untouched: beautiful arps combined with aggressive dubstep basslines and hard as nails kicks and snaredrums from the master. Not to be missed.

The two robots crash land their Subpod on B-World, a backwater, arid, desert-like planet. There, they wander away from the Subsistenz craft, lost on the planet's rolling sand dune surface. With a comical 'Laurel-and-Hardy' type friendship, CV-3PO tells his metal m8, 'We seem to be made to suffer. It's our lot in life.' Then he mutters: 'What a desolate place this is.' CV-3PO stubbornly decides to split off from his partner after admonishing his pal's beeps: 'Don't get technical with me.' They go off in different directions, DR-D2 toward a low lying range of rocky mountains in the distance, and CV-3PO across miles of hot desert toward the horizon in the opposite direction.

Together with internationally-acclaimed Reggae artist, Jahdan Blakkamoore and established stateside lyrical beasts, Armanni Reign & Diggadee MC - Trigon & Dave Gee push the envelope, delivering a massive cross-over Dubstep/Grime influenced riddim with Hip-Hop appeal. Dirty synths, banging 808 bass and pure nasty bars from these heavy-weight MCs all blend together seamlessly, proving this to be a powerhouse combination and nothing but pure 'murda!'
Kicking off the remix duties, the man behind the original Virus Syndicate sound, MRK1, jumps in with an explosive rework, combining the original vocals with an infectious melody, bone-shaking basslines and heavy-rolling drums, and turning it into a head-crushing dancefloor banger.

Taz
A1 Neurotica
A2 Hedge Your Bets
B1 Stamma
B2 Ebb Flow
close
Glasgow's Taz Buckfaster - or just 'Taz' - was one of Rwina's earliest discoveries. His two EPs on Rwina have leaned towards the dubstep side of things, imbuing them with the playful hip-hop inspired mischief that remains the Rwina trademark, playing with dub skank on 'Kingston Bridge' and sending off firecrackers of concentrated synth melody in nearly uncontrollable bursts on '20 Red'. He now makes a welcome return to the label at the end of 2011 with the Neurotica EP with four brand new tracks of uncompromising Glaswegian heat.
With a reputation as a bit of a musical chameleon, having made his name across various labels and styles, this new release for Rwina sees Taz being quite neurotic in his hard-to-pin-down production approach - as the EP name might already given away! And while this could sound like a negative thing for most producers, in the hands and imagination of the young Scottish talent it's a recipe for forward thinking dancefloor success.
The self titled opener for the Neurotica EP sets the bar high with a production that twists, turns and shifts without ever sounding forced or unpleasant. Going straight for the jugular, Taz unleashes a combo of colourful, catchy and bouncy synth melodies and chest-pummeling bass laced wiry grime-funk with just the right amount of editing trickery to keep the listeners and dancers engaged and sweating. 'Hedge Your Bets' starts with some serious headnod swing before transforming itself into a seriously hypercolour beat manifesto with a driving rhythm and melodies that could be the perfect soundtrack for a remake of the classic Outrun. An out and out retro futuristic jam where Taz proves to be the earthly vessel for perfect execution of all sorts of styles.
The energy doesn't let loose as you flip to the B side. 'Stamma' keeps things popping with hectic nightmarish vocal loops and a rhythmic foundation that manages to alternate seamlessly between straight dancefloor energy and looser, crunk inspired swing held together by more pummeling bass. 'Ebb Flow' closes the proceedings, unpredictable as he is, with a mellower vibe that soon enough morphs and drops into a hands-in-the-air club vibe that fuses 2step-inspired, swinging drum patterns and a swirling bassline resulting in yet more dancefloor fire.
Taz's Neurotica EP further proves Glasgow's supremacy in providing future minded dancefloor jams, regardless of genre or style. This is the sound of a young producer coming into his own and playing with templates and ideas in a way that makes it impossible not to get down and join in.

NastyNasty

close
NastyNasty is a staple of San Francisco's vibrant music scene and a prominent member of the Bay Area's latest all-star musical team; Frite Nite ( also home to the likes of EPROM and B. Bravo) His implacable sound is the result of a melting pot of influences that includes southern rap, IDM, turf, dubstep and god knows what else. Speaking of his music The Fader magazine said 'in a time when every third dude is attempting dubstep's wobble to varying results, this is refreshing to hear'. NastyNasty's music is essentially an unpredictable grab bag that always surprises and never disappoints. The Reef, released on Frite Nite, is ultra-compressed, bit-crushed mayhem. Sort of like skweee put through a concrete mixer. Then there is his Planet Mu debut, the No Names 12inch, where dancefloor friendly dubstep is re-imagined in his own unique fashion with swathes of harsh frequencies and terrorizing bass.
More recently, NastyNasty has been rolling out a steady stream of productions moving in a restless, quicksilver hip-hop direction. These tracks don't stay still for longer than a few bars and unfold rapidly over a few short minutes combining hip hop's headnod and swing with chest-crushing subs and electronic flavours that make for truly memorable dancefloor jams. All of which leads the man to the 'Poison Flavored' EP on Rwina Records. The EP takes NastyNasty's meticulous sonic aesthetic to new levels of awe. It's a high definition tale of modern lovers in a land of thieves and hustlers. The EP opens with 'Sweaty Bodies', coming in at a breakneck 55 bpm! The song twists and churns with washed out vocal chops juxtaposed atop thudding drums. Despite resting on a foundation of rather perverse bass sounds, the song reveals a soft underbelly of sweeping synths and vocal trickery. Expanding on NastyNasty's more sentimental faire this track stands out as something a bit more... kinky? With 'Jelly' the Bay Area maestro delivers retro futurism in a hip hop format. NastyNasty flexes analog synth manipulation, cantankerous drum patterns and sub bass worthy of a DMZ dance and makes the whole sound like piloting a spacecraft full of Flash Gordon baddies. Watch the drop, it's a 360 degree turn that'll shred the space time continuum. 'Hydra' starts with atmospheric pads that quickly dissolve into a lone arpeggio before dropping full swing into heavy duty bass. The track journeys through meticulous synth work and ends up changing tempo in a wash of pads and disembodied leads. Last but not least is 'Legionnaire', a trip of sonic exploration in NastyNasty's unique style. Legionnaire rises up to the harrowing heights of synthesis and plunges down to the swamp-feeding lows of bass trickery. The only question appropriate being: are you ready?
'Poison Flavored' on Amsterdam's Rwina Records is the sound of hip-hop from the future far ahead of us: a melting pot of musical influences and electronic experimentation that sends dancefloors wild without compromising on the musicality and emotions.
